Mommy went to the doctor for our first pre-natal visit today! Mommy wants very much to have you naturally with a mid-wife, but there aren't a lot of options in Alabama, because apparently midwifery is illegal in Alabama!
Dr. Busbee is a very nice man and has brought MANY babies into the world. He taught your daddy to ride a bike when he was little. I asked Dr. Busbee if he wanted to teach another little one how to ride a bike....and he said he was too old to run next to the bike anymore and would need a scooter....which is just the business your mommy is going to be in soon!!!
He told me to tell Daddy that he'll be okay....... :)
Mommy has gained 6 lbs. since her last visit to the doctor, but I was wearing my boots! :) next time I'll be sure to wear shoes I can take off!!!! :) Dr. Busbee said you will be here December 2nd or the 3rd and told me I could go about my days normally, and to make sure I feed you well, but not too well! :)

And in the 8th week, there was a thunderstorm!

You are now 8 weeks old. Here is a picture of what you look like. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of my belly, but you are getting bigger, which is evident by the fact that I can only wear one pair of pants.
This week, your daddy and I went to Grand Central to see a band....and it was LOUD! As I sipped on a cranberry juice, Daddy said he wondered what you thought of the noise. He thinks you're like him and probably doesn't want to be disturbed. "QUIET OUT THERE....Don't you guys know I'm trying to sleep????" He says that you elbowed me, but I can't feel any of that yet. You're still too tiny and haven't begun to move just yet!
Week Eight
- Cartilage and bones begin to form - At the end of this week you will have already completed 1/5th of the journey to your birthday!
- The basic structure of the eye is well underway - The position is more "newborn" like already!
- The tongue begins to develop
- Intestines move out of the umbilical cord into the abdomen.
- Body grows and makes room - Two months along and this little one is growing inside and out by leaps and bounds!
- The fingers and toes have appeared but are webbed and short
- Baby's length (crown to rump) is 0.61 inch (1.6cm) and weight is 0.04 ounce (1gm)
Today just so happens to be your Grandfather Orvis' birthday. Happy birthday Dad! We couldn't send him too much, but we
promised a much BIGGER gift would come in December!

We told daddy's parents today!
Today we told daddy's parents that you are coming into the world. Daddy had to work, so Mommy went over to visit Grandma Jams and Do-dah in Pensacola, FL. Mommy brought her Belly book, a way to keep track of your growing in me, and gave it to Grandma Jams. At first she didn't understand, but she soon put two and two together and realized I was pregnant! Grandma Jams has been asking for you for a long time, and is very excited. Her and Do-dah took us to T.J. Maxx and bought you the most beautiful Moses basket for you to sleep in when you go to other people's houses! Do-dah picked out your very first outfit, a Calvin Klein white velour track suit. Gosh, you're going to be spoiled! I don't think I've ever owned ANYTHING Calvin Klein. After we shopped, we went out to dinner by the water.
On second thought, I guess mommy is spoiled too!
Mommy spent the night and went to church with Grandma Jams the next day. On the bulletin it said "Amazing Grace" which is what Grandma Jams has taken to calling you (We like Gracie Mae). She is hoping you are a girl. Mommy and Grandma Jams are very sorry if you are a boy and we have scarred you for life!
We had Starbucks---Mommy has been drinking a lot of smoothies and milkshakes and things of that nature because it seems to settle her stomach. After that we went to the beach in Navarre, which is absolutely gorgeous. Your mommy looked like a tourist again, because it is only April and I was the only Yankee in the water! The St. Lawrence River is so much colder than the Gulf of Mexico! :) Mommy just loves the beach. I can't wait until you make me really big and I'm out there surfing the waves!
