A day remembered.....

Memorial Day comes and goes every year, and while I know this special day is set aside for our service men and women, I sometimes find myself getting nostalgic about all the special people in my life.

Today I have spent most of the morning thinking about:

*All of my friends and family that have served our country so that we could be free to worship, work, live, and play as we wish.
*Our service men and women that continue to serve our country, so that we might live at peace.
*It has been one whole year since I've seen my mother.
*Days gone by when I used to march in LaFargeville's Memorial Day parade, and working at the UMC for the bar-b-que.

And now that I have a little one inside of me, I think about all the people that are special to me that I miss so much, and I can't wait for you to meet---whether its in heaven with our Father, or right here on earth.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY EVERYONE!

Skipping on to week 12.....

Quite a bit has happened developmental wise since I last wrote....but to be honest I was just a big ball of hormones and tired and nauseous to care too much about writing.

I'm now edging out of the first trimester and starting to feel much better. I went ahead and bought some maternity clothes in week 10 because I was down to one pair of pants that weren't, exactly....ahem, FLATTERING.

I'm not showing too much at all (I PROMISE I will get around to showing pictures!). People have said I am glowing...and I AM feeling much better and more productive.

Although I'm no longer feeling nauseous, I sometimes have to force myself to eat because I feel full all the time and the "little monster" has stopped saying "FEED ME SEYMORE!!!!"

I have had affairs with the following food----raisin brain, salami, toasted tuna sandwhiches, mandarin oranges, rootbeer, manicotti, and milk. I am increasingly thirsty and have been drinking a lot of water and milk and apple juice. Oh and CHOCOLATE MILK.....this baby LOVES chocolate milk.

Although everything I've read tells me that you are too small to feel, I am feeling little butterfly flutters ever now and then......and it's not gas despite what Grant says!

Grant thinks the baby is a girl. I don't want to know the sex of the baby, but he does. Should be an interesting war the next little bit. :)

Week Twelve

  • Vocal cords begin to form -
  • Tastebuds begin to form
  • The brain is nearly finished developing, as well as nerves---the baby can feel some kinds of pain at this time.
  • Those precious eyes begin to move closer together -
  • Ears shift to their normal place on the side of the head
  • Intestines move farther in to your child's body
  • His or her liver begins to function -
  • The pancreas begins to produce insulin
  • Guess what? Your baby's average size is now at a whopping length: 2.13 inches (5.4cm) and weight: 0.49 ounce (14gm)

A swim in Government Red Tape.....

The red tape backstroke in the pregnancy pool is quite easy, to my surprise. This morning I went downtown to apply for Pregnancy Medicaid. Apparently the computers were down and they told me to come back at 1:00. I took this to be a sign of UTTER DISASTER.

So I drove all the way back home....and shopped. This is the perfect thing for an unemployed mommy to do! Shopping relieves mega boat loads of stress! I also had a California Roll for lunch, which was DELICIOUS!

I drove back down to the MOM Care office and this wonderful gentleman ushered me in the room. I needed proof of pregnancy (a note from my doctor you sickos!!) CHECK. Social Security Card. CHECK. Identification. CHECK. Income from April (very easy, there wasn't any!) Check. And now I am in the system. I can't go to the doctor I want to, but atleast I know this whole shindig will be paid for, which is an ease on my brain to say the least!

Oh, and for all you jokesters out there that think the baby is going to be a giraffe???? Kiss my arse!!!! I realized a bit ago this baby has to come out of me.....and being an 8 pound football is terrifying enough without adding a 4 foot long neck!

Thanks for the congrats from everyone!

Keep checking in....

Oh, and to comment??? Below this blog there is a link (albeit tiny) that says 0 comments. If you click on it, you should be able to comment. You might have to set up a blog though, I'm not sure.

Love you all!

We told your brother today! (9weeks)

Your brother just turned five on Monday the 28th of April. He spent the night lastnight and that's when daddy and I gave him some of his birthday presents. Your daddy told him about you and he is VERY excited. He wants to have a baby sister he said....he also said he doesn't mind sharing his room with you.

He thinks we should name you Claire if you are a girl, and John if you are a boy. He asked if he could see you and I showed him a picture of what you probably looked like from my book. He says you look not quite right....but that you have a cute rump! :)

He told me that I can't drink beer anymore and I have to have lots of fruits, vegetables and juice to keep you healthy. Boy your brother is smart!

He asked how you got in my belly. Then he asked how the doctor put you in my belly and I said that daddy put you in my belly, and he of course wanted to know how that happened! Your brother is VERY inquisitive! (Apparently the stork DOES NOT bring babies, Mommy has discovered!)

We had Daddy's friend Jeff over for dinner lastnight and he said "Did you know Miss K has a baby in her belly????" I think he will be my little reporter. He will probably tell everyone at school today. Gosh I love him, and I know you will too!

Here's what you look like at 9 weeks. The major development is done....now you just have to grow!!!! (AND SO DOES MOMMY IT WOULD SEEM)

Week Nine

  • Baby has begun movement - While still too small for me to feel, you are is wriggling, shifting, and dancing already! Makes you almost wish for a window to peek in whenever you want!
  • Most joints are formed now - and trust that your little one is practicing bending and flexing.
  • Fetus will curve its fingers around an object placed in the palm of its hand - This is amazing to see! At only nine weeks, if you happen to have an ultrasound, you may observe your infant fascinated by everything he or she can lay their fingers on (mainly other fingers, toes, ears and nose!
  • Fingerprints are already evident in the skin
  • Average size this week -- length 0.9 inch (2.3cm), weight 0.07 ounce (2gm)
